About the FAMILY TRADES

“Build with Purpose”

Thank you for checking out the website. My name is Ryan Hill, Owner-Operator of The Family Trades. I want to share a little bit about myself as you search for a Contractor for your roof, gutters, paint, and/or fence project.

I entered the roofing industry in August 2020 with Blue Hammer Roofing, and quickly created an opportunity to make a strong impact not only for our company, but mainly for our customers. After recognizing a weakness on the production side of the equation, I proposed to ownership a dedicated Quality Control Manager division and helped establish new procedures to improve efficiency & quality. This division’s hard work freed up the sales teams to reach more prospects, which increased sales in all markets across multiple states. Most importantly, in my opinion, the Quality Control Team gave our homeowners a better experience knowing they had a go-to person whose sole responsibility was to oversee the production process. This provided the peace-of-mind we all want when someone is working on our home.

It was safe to say that nobody put in more hours and managed more risk than a professional Quality Control Manager. After nearly three years, my mind, body, and spirit were just about broken, and there was no sign of the company taking their foot off the gas. I hate to say this next part, but this is one of the two reasons “why” I eventually started my own company. A lot of people were getting rich while others were putting out their fires, literally. That didn’t sit well with me, and I had to learn to “control what I can control”.

I was being recruited by three contractors in the winter of 2022, and in March of 2023, I accepted an offer and left Blue Hammer to team up with TDJ Contractors. In just one year at TDJ, I was able to learn the sales side of the business, and get the time I desperately needed to get back in the gym and take better care of myself. I’m very thankful my Sales Manager, Mr. Dobson, took me under his wing during that time. He recruited me and gave me the opportunity to come up for air and find myself again. I always loved this industry, but I wasn’t happy where I was. I remember telling him, “If you tell me to eat lima beans, I’ll eat lima beans.” He helped me find my way, and I will forever be thankful for that.

After being recruited by four contractors in the winter of 2023, I accepted a Sales Manager position with a contractor in DFW. However, I was only there for four months due to differing business philosophies. He’s a good guy, but shortly after signing, things weren’t adding up, and I knew it just wasn’t the right fit for either of us. He will always outsell me though, I’ll give him that. But this situation became the second “why” for starting my own company.

I am 100% committed, with every fiber of my being, to operate with integrity, transparency, and quality craftsmanship. People that I have worked with and worked for would agree if you told them I am obsessed with attention to detail and a relentless pursuit of doing things the right way every time. I am driven by a desire to raise the standard of service in this industry, even on a small scale. I founded The Family Trades to focus on delivering dependable, high-quality service to my roofing, gutters, and painting customers in the greater Fort Worth area.
